2022 End of Year Update

Image
I took a break from the monthly updates basically because there was nothing of note to report. The market was still down My portfolio was still generating around $500 a month in dividends. But I thought I would do a December update and a year end summary. So December saw my highest monthly amount, $532, thanks to some quarterly returns coming in. For 2022 as a whole, I received $5,737 of dividends into my TFSA accounts, compared to $1,491 for 2021, my first year of this investing approach. The total cash invested in my TFSAs is $77,532 and its current value is $71,433 so down $6,089 overall. However, my total dividend income since starting this is $7,228 so I'm still in profit overall. But I'm not particularly concerned with the drop in portfolio value as I have no plans to sell anything and the market will recover at some point. And in other shock news, I actually managed to make a couple of sales of my t-shirt designs over at Redbubble (https://www.redbubble.com/users/WeeGem...

September 2022 Dividend Update

Urgh. What can you say? Still more turmoil in the markets meaning the overall value of my TFSA portfolio is now around $9,000 down. Which is quite a significant drop. Every time there is a little upturn, it's followed by another drop. But, I am staying strong. The portfolio is still bringing in good dividends. The total for September 2022 was CAD$512.

August 2022 Dividend Update

Well, there's not really a lot to say again this month. The markets are still down and so the actual worth of my investments is still down quite a bit but I did $481 in dividends.

July 2022 Dividend Update

The markets are still in a bit of turmoil and the value of my investments in still down over $5000. But, $486 was received in dividends during the month of July.

Thank you, my Australian buyer

This blog was always meant to be more than just dividend income but I've yet to post anything other than that. Not because I haven't done anything but rather that the other methods of generating passive income are either not developed yet or haven't brought in enough money to be worth reporting. Print On Demand falls into the latter category. I've been dabbling in it for almost a year but the total income it has brought in is.....wait for it..... $3.29. Yes, that's a whole $3.29. Thank you to my unknown Australian buyer! It is actually quite humbling to know that someone in a far away land is wearing a t-shirt with one of your designs on it. Print On Demand (POD) is one of those areas that, if you go by Youtube videos, promises to be an easy, surefire way to generate passive income. Slap together some designs, upload them to Redbubble and the other POD sites and watch the money roll in. It's not like that at all. Well, not for the majority. I'm sure there ar...

June 2022 Dividend Update

June was a turbulent month on the stock market. My investments are down around $6000 now but my portfolio is still generating a good amount in dividends per month. The total in June was $514.

May 2022 Dividend Update

Image
May was one of those months that tests your resolve. The market was down quite significantly and at one point my portfolio was down over $3000,  pretty much wiping out the money received from dividend payouts since starting this journey. But I am holding firm. Short term fluctuations are to be expected and we all know that over the long term the market generally rises. Onto the numbers.  The month of May saw a total of $464 in dividends coming in to my TFSA accounts. I will be using these dividends to increase my holdings of the ETFs that are currently down, lowering my average cost per share for those stocks.
