2022 End of Year Update
I took a break from the monthly updates basically because there was nothing of note to report. The market was still down My portfolio was still generating around $500 a month in dividends. But I thought I would do a December update and a year end summary. So December saw my highest monthly amount, $532, thanks to some quarterly returns coming in. For 2022 as a whole, I received $5,737 of dividends into my TFSA accounts, compared to $1,491 for 2021, my first year of this investing approach. The total cash invested in my TFSAs is $77,532 and its current value is $71,433 so down $6,089 overall. However, my total dividend income since starting this is $7,228 so I'm still in profit overall. But I'm not particularly concerned with the drop in portfolio value as I have no plans to sell anything and the market will recover at some point.
